Could you still use a name with a bad connotation?

By the time the child gets older no one will care about movies like the Da Vinci Code. Star Wars will be popular no matter what but who would think of dark vader when the name is vada. There was this celeberty around the time that I was born (Feb. 1995) named Nicole and she wasn't the greatest person, but now no one knows who she is (I forgot what my mom told me)
